Grand Marnier Whipped Truffles

My infamous Grand Marnier Whipped Truffles is a recipe I don't usually share. But today, I'll share it.
Ingredients:
  • 8 oz unsweetened pure chocolate
  • 2/3 cup whipping cream
  • 3/4 icing sugar
  • 1/8 cup Grand Marnier
  • pinch of fleur de sel (optional)
  • cocoa powder for dusting
Directions:
  1. Melt chocolate gently using a double boiler. When completely melted, cool slightly.
  2. Whip cream until stiff peaks form.
  3. Sift icing sugar into the chocolate. If you're adding fleur de sel, add with sugar.
  4. Stir whipped cream into the chocolate mixure.
  5. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and allow to set in fridge.
  6. Usually about 2 hours.
  7. Using two teaspoons, form small balls
  8. Roll balls in cocoa powder and set on parchment paper lined cookie sheet
  9. Place cookie sheet in freezer overnight
  10. EAT!!!

Coming home for a visit! MONTREAL!!! WOOHOO!!

And now the trip is complete. I'm back in Toronto and I must say, I already miss Montreal (and St. Hippolyte) greatly.

Big thanks and shout out to @DarthKumar, @ladyhabs, @MathieuLF and @LidiaLF for making it out to Winnie's on Friday. I know it was an early night (I'm sorry). But next time I'm in town, it will be par-tay time!! And it should be easier to meet up since I'll actually be staying downtown instead of an hour away.

Hopefully Jazz fest time will come soon! So I'll see you all again soon! ^_^

***

So yesterday was a bit difficult for most people to make it out. Everyone's got a very busy life. Not everyone is on holiday like me, so I totally understand. And for those who are just being nice and didn't want to tell me they didn't want to meet up with, it's okay...I'm giving you the easy way out. ;-)

Anyways, @emann_222 & his lovely wife were kind enough to treat me to dinner at La Banquise - Mmmmmmm...poutine!!!

If you wanna see what we ate, I posted the photos.

I'm expecting a better turnout on Friday (since more people were able to make it for Friday than Tuesday anyways). ^_^ Remember.... Winnie's at 6pm!

May 10th Update:
Minor change in plans. Heading to La Banquise for poutine instead of McLean's for happy hour.

If you wanna join (yes, you're more than welcome) send me a DM.

And yes, Friday at Winnie's is still on. So let me know if you wanna come to that too/instead.

****

So I've tweeted some people directly to see if they were up for drinks next week. I'll be in the Laurentians for the week so I thought I'd see if any of my Montrealer friends were available Tuesday (May 10th) or Friday (May 13th). I plan on driving into town those two days.

I have no further details beyond that at the moment. I figured something simple (so if someone could recommend a cool place - maybe Mcleans Pub for Tuesday and some place else for Friday?) for happy hour. [Re: Can I get some assistance please? =)]

Anyways, if any wonderful Habs fans would like to join me (or offer suggestions in terms of time/place) please let me know (leave a comment, msg me on Twitter, you could try smoke signals but I'm not sure how effective those will be).

It'd be great to meet everyone that I've so greatly enjoyed chatting with on Twitter about our beloved Habs.

Election time in Canada

It's that time.  There was a non-confidence vote in the House of Commons and the opposition toppled the government.  And so, we Canadians are scheduled to head back to the polls on May 2, 2011.

If you're thinking of skipping out on it...or having a case of the Mondays and not getting out of bed, I strongly discourage you from doing so.  There's just under a month, so enough time for you to get apprised of the issues.  And do you know WHY you have to do this?  Here's why.

Some days I feel like I should just give up on society and retreat to a cave.

Living as a hermit *has* to be less aggravating than this. And I’ll die way before humans can destroy the Earth so I why should I stress if there’s nothing left for the next generation? *sigh* =(

Don't mind me.  I'm just having one of the those days.  I just need more coffee.

Don't panic...I never drink decaf.  Just got my second cup of coffee today...

I'm being thwarted by the IT monkeys. I'm not happy about it.

That should've read as tHwarted... not twarted. Such typing fail... or #KeyboardFailure as @touteparpillee calls it. ;-)

PK going to ASG means Carey will have a friend with him

And that's not so bad now, is it?

Yay, Carey!! Yay, PK!!

GO HABS GO!!
